Semana #85 - A

So this week was full of things to do. Really the only normal days I had this week were Monday and Tuesday.  On Wednesday I flew to Iquitos for our leadership conference. We had our announcement meeting and in the middle of it it started to rain really hard so we went inside of the mission home.  It's a very nice house, and we continued until the power went out.  Then we went home early because there was no power to continue the meeting.  On Thursday we had our counsel as leaders.   We talked about the powers of the Book of Mormon and how it can literally help us solve our problems that we have in our lives.  We talked about the  DEVASTATING sin of pride, we read the talk by Ezra Taft Benson, "Beware of Pride".  I encourage all of you to read it. Then on Friday we went back to Pucallpa and as we got home we had to take a 30 min car ride to Campo Verde to do a baptismal interview for them (the elders).  It was...

Semana #84 - GIVE

So this week was general conference it was absolutely amazing!!   I loved listening to the apostles and the prophet. This week we also had to spend a whole day in Campo Verde to look for a house for the elders there.   It was a long day but we finally found a house and it looks really nice.  Campo Verde is the area in my zone that is very far away, it's 30 min in car, (that's really far for us). We also had to receive a bunch of missionaries that came to our zone.  The funny thing was that the airline that was always used - closed down the day before the whole mission took flights for their changes.  That was something big that happened and the personal secretary had to figure out.  Well as always love you all and I really hope that you can take the time to listen to some inspired talks from general conference. I know that they can help you change your life to be closer to God and in the end be happier. una semana mas...

Semana #83 - WHACK

Today is changes and Elder Meeks and I are staying 1 more change together.  On Tuesday the area doctor came to Pucallpa to give us a training on how to stay healthy in the mission and in the real world.  It was a great training. The funny thing was I got really sick right before the whole thing. Also this week we had to help a lot of other missionaries so that took out time from out teaching hours.  A couple companionship's had to move houses this week so we helped them move.  It was fun.  Now this week there are a couple areas that need to move and haven't found a house so Elder Meeks and I have to help them look because its been 2 weeks and they haven't found anything.  It will be fun to  go house hunting this coming week. The biggest thing that I'm excited for this week is GENERAL CONFERENCE.   It's always a huge blessing to be able to listen to the prophets' voice and from the 12 apostles.  I know they are called of God...

Semana #82 - PADDY

So this last week was pretty good. Again we found a couple more people that are part member families so we have about 5 families like this that we are working with.  They are all great people and they seem ready to get baptised.  We are going to see their desires to follow our saviour in these next couple weeks.  I went to an area in my zone that is super far away that is called Campo Verde. I went there on Tuesday.  It was cool to bed there.  That area is 100km big and that is massive for 2 people that walk everywhere.  There the missionaries teach people in little communities on the side of the highway.  To get to one community to the next they have to walk like an hour, so they learn to love walking. We found a massive spider in the shower this week.  It tried to fight us, we won.  It was super scary to find that in our shower.  Today I officially enter into my last 12 weeks of the mission,  Una semana mas e...

Semana #81 - NACK

So this last week was pretty cool. We had our zone conference this week where President Parker taught us about agency and how if we use it in the right way the Lord will help us in the goals we set and the plans we make to complete our goals.  It was very eye opening in the way he explained it. There was also a big focus on the sacrament and the importance of it. So the sacrament, what is it? The sacrament is what he taught his Apostles and followers to be the correct way to remember his atoning sacrifice and his resurrection.  We also focused on the symbolism of the sacrament and how it represents Christ being the sacrificial lamb.  How we must also put something forth as a sacrifice, which is our broken heart and contrite spirit to show that we are really willing to repent of our sins and change. This week we found a couple families where not everyone is a member and these people are pretty ready to get baptised, we just need to help them get married....

Semana #80 - NICK

So this week was pretty good. I did a couple activities this week.  The first one was that we did a science experiment to teach repentance to a group of people.  We made "pop into water".  All we did was add bleach to a bottle of pop.  It was a fun little experiment. We also had a movie night as a ward and it was really successful.  We had like 72 people come out.  We watched Coco.  I have never seen that movie in English, but it's pretty good in Spanish.   Also Luis and his family have callings now.   They were called yesterday, Luis is the Elders quorum secretary and Luz, his wife, is a primary teacher.   I'm super happy for them, to see them progress so fast in the gospel. I'm loving my time here in Pucallpa.  I can't wait to find more people to help and invite them to come unto Christ. una semana mas en paraĆso Elder Porowski

Semana #79 - AQUA

So this last Saturday  Luis and his family got baptised!!! We met this amazing family the 1st of August and they entered into the waters of baptisms on the 31st of august.  I know that God is always preparing His children to hear His word and follow it.  I'm very grateful that in this time I can be an instrument in His hands to help people who don't know the joys of living the gospel, have a chance to hear and have the opportunity to live it. Also this last week I went to Iquitos again for leadership counsel and this time it was just as good as the first time!  A super spiritual experience. This time we learned a lot about the sacrament and how it's the most important meeting of the week. Really partaking of the sacrament is the only way to receive a real forgiveness of your sins and if we don't partake of the sacrament there is no way we can be forgiven of our sins.  W hich really if we are late to this meeting or we miss it we are missing th...
