Jungle Wasps!! Semana 27

So I was doing service again this week. We were chopping branches off of a tree.   We took off 3 huge branches.  We tried to move them to one corner of the yard. While we were moving the branches everything was going good until people were getting stung by these jungle wasps called avispas.  Apparently they hurt a lot when they sting people. Everyone who was there got stung except for me. My companion got destroyed by them, he got stung twice in the same ear and once in the hand.  His hand and ear were pretty big for an hour or so after that.  As always serving the people is a blast.  Teaching and studying this week was awesome.  I felt the spirit testify of the truthfulness of the gospel of Jesus Christ almost every lesson this week, definitely a week to remember.  We have a few new people who we are teaching. There is this one guy named Max él es lo Máximo. Tight off the bat he said that he would cancel his plans Sunday to com...

Pineapples!! Semana 26

Image
So pineapples grow on bushes. One of the services I did this week was help this member graft branches one to some of his mango trees. Wow it was super cool to learn from him and how to do that.  He has a bunch of different trees and bushes in his back yard. This week we had 6 people come to church which is really good because last week no one came. All of them are really trying to become closer to Christ. Elder Cloud and I walked to the the end of our area and wow its like a ghost town when we were there. No one was walking in the streets and there were no motokars.  It was super weird to see that. Everything is awesome here in Pucallpa, super hot as always but it's worth it when you're bringing people to Christ. este es un otro día en el paraiso Elder Porowski

Trees! semana 25

Image
So i cut down a tree this week, I feel like the tool of choice here in the jungle is a machete  because I had to cut down the tree with a machete. It was pretty fun but a lot of work. This week while me and my companion were teaching, two super awesome things happened. First thing that happened was that we brought my convert Jorge to a teaching appointment with us and wow his testimony about the church is amazing! The change he saw in his life from getting married then baptized is outstanding. He shared that everything in his life has gotten better since he was baptized.  Everyone in his house is happier, they feel more united as a family and they know that God lives, is their Father in heaven and He loves them.  I too know that God loves us, we are all his children and we can talk with Him through prayer and He will listen to us. The second awesome thing that happened this week was we found a family who absolutely loved the mess...

Gringos!!! Semana 24

Image
So my Latino comp is gone and I have a gringo. It was sad to see Elder Olivas leave but I am ready to adjust to a new companion for the next 6 weeks. My new companions name is Elder Cloud.  He was born in the states but he came to the mission from Germany.  That is super cool. Since Olivas is gone I live with 2 other gringos and in total out of 4 people there are 3 gringos. I hope my Spanish does not get worse from speaking English too much.  This week we got to know each other a little bit and know a little more of our area.  We got lost a few times because the area where we are working I was there for the first time last week. 18 weeks and still finding new places, wow how big is my area!! 2-3 times this week we had some people come up to us and want to talk about the bible and make comparisons.  That was super interesting because they would not listen to what we had to say and just told us what they wanted to hear ...
