Semana 46 - Cambios

Image
So I said goodbye to Iquitos this past week and now I'm in a city called Tarapoto.  It's super beautiful here. I live in the mountains and it reminds me a lot of camping trips I've taken in the past.  I love it here with my new companion Elder Hudman.  He is from Idaho Falls.  My area here in Tarapoto is in a part called la banda de shilcayo.  It's pure hills but its a really nice view.  I'm here as district leader. I don't have a lot of time to write I hope the photos are good enough. un días más en paraíso, en las montañas de Tarapoto. (One more day in paradise, in the mountains of Tarapoto) Elder Porowski

Semana 47 - HAY UN PAVO!.... bueno había un pavo (there is a turkey..well there was a turkey)

This week in the mountains of Tarapoto! The nights here are awesome because they are cold.  I was sleeping like a baby until the owner of the house bought a turkey and let it live in the garden, in front of our house. So I was listening to it gobble for most of the week. The owner got it ready for its big role for Christmas dinner yesterday so I thought I was going to have a a good night sleep until the garbage truck came around at 2am honking its horn.  Oh well.  The work is still good, the church is true, and tomorrow es navidad (Christmas) so I'm good here in the jungle. I hope everyone has a super merry Christmas and that its spent with family, remembering that Jesus Christ was born, that through Him and His atonement we can be cleansed from sin, and that through Him we can be happier in life if we follow his teachings. ¡cuídense todos! y tengan una buena navidad.  (Take care everyone and have a good Christmas!) saludos de las montañas de pa...

Semana 45 - Baptism

Saturday my companion and I baptized un joven (a young man) named Bruno. Bruno is awesome!  He is 16 years old and loves the gospel and was so ready to be baptized.  This past week was a lot more calm than last week as we have the house all organized and we are getting into a new groove with the new house and pensión.  One down side to the house is when it rains really hard the house floods.... Saturday in the morning when I woke up I heard it was raining, I didn't think much of it because it always rains here, until I stepped in a huge puddle of water and almost slipped.  It was an interesting experience.  This week was very wet as we are entering into the rainy season in the jungle (winter).  With all the rain it's not boiling the whole day which is OK.  Today we have changes so tonight I will find out if I'm going somewhere else or stay in the same area for 6 weeks more. paraíso esta haciendo más y más frío. me gusta mucho porque me ...
