week 14/104

This week was interesting, First off I was in the clinic twice this week, once for myself and the other to look after another missionary. I went to the clinic to get my ankle x-rayed because my mission leaders wanted me to. The only thing with that was wrong is the tendons in my ankle are messed up and the doctor wants me to have reduced hours of work. The second time was to look after a missionary who got a light form of dengue ( a debilitating viral disease of the tropics, transmitted by mosquitoes, and causing sudden fever and acute pains in the joints.).   He is fine now.  Another thing I learned the hard way is I shouldn't mix juices.  I drank a glass of camu camu and then a glass of pineapple juice, after a while i threw up.  So never drink these drinks one after another! This week for service, as a zone, we shined shoes and that was cool. My Spanish is coming along.  I'm having more and more normal conversations with people and my pr...

Ok so this week when from 0-100 really quick, So now that I can walk again my companion and I could finally get back to work.    First big thing this week was service.  Me and my comp cleared the space in front of a members house.  We pulled up all the grass and bricks that were in his lawn with a flat headed shovel that sucked pero esta bien (but it's ok). I love doing service!  All the shovels here are flat headed and when they buy a regular shovel they chop off the point which is weird.  Sometimes I like to play a game called where doesn't my shirt touch my back (see the first picture).   The members house is right beside a pitch black river.  The river is black because all the people put their trash and poop in the river, it's pretty gross. This week I flew to Iquitos to finish my immigration process.  So really I can say I'm Peruvian.  The process was super quick, not really worth a 2 day tri...

week 12/104

So I did a whole lot of nothing this week, I was home doing a lot of studying for most of this week, could finally walk with little pain on Thursday,  For community service we as English speakers in my zone we taught English a few time this week so that's cool. All the people learning English are super grateful for the opportunity to speak with a native English speaker. Scripture this week is form the book of Mormon Alma 29: 9: 9  I know that which the Lord hath commanded me, and I glory in it. I do not glory of myself, but I glory in that which the Lord hath commanded me; yea, and this is my glory, that perhaps I may be an instrument in the hands of God to bring some soul to repentance; and this is my joy. este es un otro dia en el paraiso Elder Porowski

Meetings, This week was full of meetings.  The first was a zone conference; a zone conference is where all the missionaries in an area meet together and are taught by the zone leaders and sometimes by the mission president.  This time we were taught by the mission president.  All the lessons are in Spanish and I understood all but 2 lessons.  Quickly translating is a lot of work so I was pretty tired the whole time.  Saturday and Sunday were (filled with watching) General Conference.  General conference is when the prophet, apostles and other leaders in the church, address us and teach us things according to promptings by the Holy Ghost.  At this general conference we, as a church, sustained the new living prophet, Russell M. Nelson and 2 new apostles. I know that God chooses prophets to lead us on the earth today and all his guidance and counsel is how the Lord wants His church to be run.  The messages I loved the most were by Brian...
