Semana 39 Jungle Men

Jungle men are a different breed of people.  So this week while I was looking for more people to teach I met this guy named Raul. Before we taught him and his family we helped him move a full sized fridge into his house. So Raul lives in a wooden house on stilts and every step you take the whole house sways.  His house is awesome. His street is pure dirt so it's really uneven. Anyways all we did to help him was make sure the fridge didn't fall on him because he put the fridge one his back, walked down some super sketchy stairs, walked half a block on this dirt road, climbed up another set of sketchy stairs and then into his house. The first set of stairs were basically a 90 degree angle and the other set were 2 tree branches with 2x4's as steps. I love the jungle. The people here don't have fear.  Another thing that happened this week was my companion and I baptized a joven de 9 años (a young man of 9 years).  His baptism was great.  His family was the...

Semana 38 - ¡TODOS SON DIFERENTES! (Everyone is different)/ Un pequeñito audio (A little audio)

So I live with 3 other people! 1 from Bolivia, 1 from Argentina, and 1 from Ecuador and this past week we have been experimenting  with how they say words and what they mean in their countries.  No one can agree.  It has been very entertaining to watch this last week. So that family of 11 people I found last week I visited them again this week and wow they have awesome questions!! Especially the boy who is 16 years old, Nemesio.  It is such a blessing to find people like this and teach them about Christ and this true church has been restored. Also this week I had the opportunity to hear from the prophet, as he was in Lima this past week.  He had a conference with all the missionaries in Perú,  Colombia, Ecuador, Bolivia y Venezuela.  He also spoke to the members of the church in Perú and the prophet spoke in Spanish!!! It sounded super white but it was awesome to hear him speak Spanish. esta semana fue muy excelente en paraíso (this w...

Semana 37 - ELECCIONES!!!!!

So this past week was elections, I thought that elections would be a lot different than they were. From what I understood the country would shut down, like no one would work and everyone would be leaving to vote and nothing more. I was very wrong, it was a normal day, no one was home it was great! This past week was general conference.  I only saw the sessions on Saturday but wow all of the talks that were given were very uplifting and I can say all of them are called of God.  no puedo esperar para escucha a la voz del profeta de dios ese domingo que viene. (I can not wait to listen to the voice of a prophet of God this coming Sunday) es otro día en la isla de la selva. también conocido como paraíso (It is another day on the island of the jungle, also known as paradise) Elder Porowski

semana 36 - Another One Bites the Dust

This week was pretty hard, This week my companion and I had lots of things planned for every day of the week but when the day came to visit these people no one was home or they said they were busy and to come back another time. pero asî es la vida de un misionero (but this is the life of a missionary).  Besides that this Saturday and Sunday is General Conference and I can't wait to hear the messages from the prophet and the apostles that are living today. Here in Perú on Sunday they have their elections and it sounds like the whole country shuts down. No one can work that day. The church building can't be open that day. Everyone needs to vote. So I will be watching the Sunday session of conference on the 14th so no spoilers please.  este es un otro día en paraíso... la selva del Perú - this is another day in paradise...the jungle of Peru Elder Porowski

Semana 35 - SPLASH

Image
Splash. The sound of water. This week I had the opportunity to baptize Zulema and her daugther, Cynthia.  Saturday was an awesome experience for everyone, for Zulema y (and) Cynthia because they started their path to return to our Heavenly Father, and for me because I got to see my old companion Elder Jacobson again.  Not only did I get to baptize this past week I got a new companion....Elder Oliver from Bolivia.  I'm sad that Elder Jacobson left but I'm very excited to work with Elder Oliver.   So in the ward that I'm in we have 4 missionaries and the only 2 Elder Oliver's in the whole mission are in the same ward! That is going to be very confusing for everyone.  I'm loving my time here in the jungle.  I'm learning something new every day. The sketchy bridges never cease to be a source of adventure. cuídese todos y tengan un buen dìa (take care of everyone and have a good day) este es un otro día en paraíso.... una misión ...
