Semana 31 - el viento esta fuerte (The Wind is Strong)

Image
So there was some super strong wind this past week. Because of the strong wind this week there were some houses that either collapsed or the roofs flew right off!!! So right after we were hit by this storm my companion and I helped some guy out of his collapsed house and set up a day to return and help him clean up. I loved the opportunity to help this guy out. This week my companion and I found this family of 7 people.  They are all pretty interested in hearing the gospel.  We have some families that, wow, they love the gospel and are ready to be baptized.  I love being here and teaching people about Christ, this really is the best 2 years. cuìdese todos! este es un otro dìa en el pasraiso Elder Porowski

Semana 30: La Isla De La Selva (Island of the Jungle)

Image
So I left the desert of the jungle, I left Pucallpa this past week and wow it was a lot hotter in Pucallpa than it is in Iquitos. The area I have right now is super small compared to my last one. In this area I can walk to whatever part in 10-15, in my other area I had to walk half an hour just to get to the middle of it!!!  I feel like my companion and I can do a lot of good in this area because we are 2 people who want to do the work of the lord with all our heart might mind and strength. My companion now is Elder Jacobson... another gringo.  That's fine he's awesome. The internet here in Iquitos is a bit better so I can send a lot more pictures. The people here in my area are awesome!  Right now we have about 6 people ready for baptism for this month and I feel like we can baptize a lot more if we are together for a long time. I hope we are!! Everything is going great here in the jungles of Perú.  cuídese todos!! (Take care of yourself) ...

Semana 29

More trees, slow internet. and no pictures! So this week I chopped down some more trees and as always that was super fun.  This week a member gave me a big red seed thing called cacao.  Apparently they grow this to make chocolate. When we cut it open there was seed with some sort of goo that tasted like chocolate.  It was pretty good. Teaching this week was a little hard because we had a lot of citas (appointments) but no was home.  It was a little frustrating but whatever.  Teaching Max this week was awesome he is really excited for baptism. So I have been in the same area for almost 6 months and I'm probably going to a different area tomorrow, I'll find out tonight.  I'm excited to leave and get to know more of the mission but I'm sad to leave all these people I have been teaching and grown to love. Hey what's important is they become converted to the Lord and have faith until repentance so they qualify for baptism for the remission of sins. I...

More Trees!!! Semana 28

So I'm chopping down the jungle. Again this week I was doing service. My companion and I try to do service 3 times a week and this week we chopped down a tree.  The ax was terrible, it wasn't sharp and half the blade was missing.  That's fine because doing good and serving helps us love our neighbor more and become more like Christ. We have this young man named Max who we are teaching and él es lo máximo (He is the best).  Him and his mom Iris are liking the church a lot.  This week Max prayed and thanked God that we are teaching him and that this church is true and the others aren't.  He's a bit of a savage.  I love being here and I love teaching the people of Pucallpa about the gospel of Jesus Christ. este es un otro día en el paraiso Elder Porowski
