Week 6/104 (week 7/104)

Hola, This week has been quite the adventure! The last few days in the training center went by in a flash. I left Tuesday morning for Iquitos and spent the night there. It was super hot getting off the plane and for the rest of the day. After I landed I had a meeting on what to eat, what not to eat and what to do while in the mission field.  The morning after I left for a city called Pucallpa. In Pucallpa there are barely any cars.  The only way of transportation are motorcycles, motorcars, or walking. Motorcars are a 3 wheeled motorcycle with a bench over the rear 2 wheels.  Riding that for the first time was wild!  The area where I proselyte is very poor.  All the roads are dirt and so are the floors to most of the houses.  My first 2 day it was really hot and I didn't stop sweating for the entire day.  The people here are very receptive to our message and extremely humble. Yesterday it rained and flooded most of the  streets...

David did not send an email this week on Wednesday as he was en route to Iquitos!! He arrived safely and was welcomed with the extreme warm weather and a wonderful Mission President and his wife. David will have an opportunity to email on his next Preparation Day which is Monday.

Week 5/104

Things that happened this week, I was sick for a bit but 12 cups of tea later I was feeling a lot better.  Adding a little bit of lime juice to watermelon is actually really good! I've started to teach some of the Latinos how to play touch rugby and hopefully in a few days they will understand how to play. It's pretty difficult to teach them because all of my Spanish right now is all religious words.  Saturday I went outside of the CCM and proselyted (talked to people on the street and knocked on doors to share about the gospel). The area we went to was quite poor. Some of the houses were just wooden shacks. The people were very humble and listened to what we had to say. They speak very quietly and with a little bit of a mumble so it's really hard to understand them.   pero esta bien. We handed out pass along cards to everyone we talked to with. They had questions on them like por qué estoy aquí en la tierra? (why am I here on the earth?). If this i...

week 4/104

100 more weeks to go. It feels like Groundhog Day here, just the same day repeating itself over and over again. Its making me want to leave for the jungle already!  There was a new set of missionaries that came to the MTC this past week and 22 of them speak English so that`s cool. I was taught a lot of grammar concepts this week and how to use different tenses, like future and past tenses.  Twice this week, as we were getting ready for bed, a bird flew into the hallway and we guided it out the window. Yesterday was by far the weirdest though because we found the bird flying around in the bathroom.  Tomorrow at about 6am will mark me being 4% done my mission :) Attached are some pictures of a map of where I will be serving ( the big brown area named Iquitos) and the nasty tan line I  have developed. Week 3/104

Hey Everyone! This last week has been pretty much the same with the learning schedule, the only difference this week is that I have been able to remember a lot more from the lessons. I'm more confident in teaching in Spanish too.  God will bless you with the things you need in your life if you ask in faith and remember to be patient as the blessings will come with hard work on our part. I've been playing soccer with the Spanish missionaries and its too gentle! I'm missing rugby already.  The group of English speaking missionaries left for the field last night. It was really sad to see them leave. Their leaving marks my last 3 weeks in the training centre.  Then it's off to the jungle for the rest of my 2 years. yo no se si usted sabe pero... yo estoy ciego leyendas siempre estan soltreo Elder Porowski and ? I'm guessing his district in the CCM  Elder Porowski with Elder Winder Elder Porowski with Elder Ward Elder Por...
