Semana 69 - UNO MÁS (One More)

Image
This week me and my companion had 2 baptisms. 2 young people named Gregory and Jackelin.  They were 2 people that my companion found before I got here, but I had the privilege to help teach them and help them in to the waters of baptism.  It wasn't that easy to get them into the water because there was none!!  When the time of the baptism came around there was no running water! So we had some members run around to get a water pump and a hose to be able to fill the baptismal font. These are awesome experiences that really I'll only have in the jungle  #jungle moment This week me and my comp started to teach a friend of Gregory, the person that got baptised and he is super.   He really wants to change his life and get closer to his Saviour.  It's going to be awesome teaching him.  This week internet was super slow.  That's about the hardest thing that happened this week.  Also my comp got locked in the back yard. That was fun...

Semana 68 - La Semana en Getsemani (The week in Gethsemane)

Image
This week me and my comp spent a week in the garden of Gethsemane with our Saviour Jesus Christ.  This week nothing went well for us but at the same time we had a lot of successes. But how? Let's look at the week: Monday: internet was super bad Tuesday: we lost our phone Wednesday: there was a problem with a recent convert Thursday: the pensionistas cat tried to kill us Friday: I fell (see photo) Saturday: the power went out in our area and we had to go home at 6pm Sunday: we arrived late to church because we were helping our investigators go to church But the good side from this week was that me and my comp found 13 new investigators! We get along so everything that we do is awesome and light - hearted but when we work we work... but there is all ways time to play. una semana en getsemaní, la próxima estaré en paraíso o tal vez calvario (a week in Gethsemane, the next I will be in paradise or maybe Calvary) Elder Porowski

Semana 67 - #CAMBIOS!!!! (Changes)/La Selva (Jungle)

So this last week there were changes, and I went back to the island in the jungle. Iquitos.  It was sad to leave Tarapoto, but my new companion is the best, so I'm not too sad.  My new companion is called Elder Jauregui.  He's from Lima, Perú.  This past week we got used to each other really quick and that helped us get to work really fast. This last week we were able to walk in and teach 14 different people!!  We are super excited to work together and see the miracles that will come this change.  In my flight to Iquitos me and my friend elder Regalado asked the airport people to change our seats to first class.  We asked just to see if they would do it, and they did!! So this past week I had my first first class flight!!  The only difference is more leg room. Hahaha.  Everything looks good here in the jungle and I'm excited to work with my new companion.  We are in an area called Secada 3.  Our pensionista is the ...

Semana 66 - #TERREMOTOS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Earthquake)

So there was an earthquake that happened this last week, it was super fun. The earthquake happened at 2 am Sunday.  I live on the 4th floor of an apartment made out of bricks. When it happened me and my companion woke up and he told me that we need to leave, so we got up, put cloths on and went to the the other room where 2 other missionaries were.  One of the other missionaries that lives with us is from Arequipa. (in Arequipa there are always earthquakes that are 7.0 or more all the time)  He helped us during the earthquake. When we left our room we went to stand under the door frame until the earth stopped  shaking.  Everything was shaking for like 10-20 seconds. While it was shaking all the windows were rattling and the earth was humming really loud. It was super cool to hear everything rattle. After everything stopped shaking we left the house and when out to the street to meet as a zone and wait an hour to make sure that there weren't any after-aftersh...

Semana 65 - Bautsmos!!! (enough)

Image
These last 2 week me and my companion have been preparing a young adult to be baptised and she got baptised on the 11th. She is awesome!! We started teaching her in March and last Saturday she chose to follow the example of our Saviour, Jesus Christ and was baptized by immersion for the remission of sins by someone who has the authority of God to baptise.  These last 2 week I really thought about why it has been so hard to find people and the answer is simple: God wants His children to show faith in Him, that they trust Him and will be obedient.   If God sees it's wise to test the faith and obedience of his children, it's for their good so they can grow and perfect themselves the best they can in this life. una semana más en paraíso (another week in paradise) Elder Porowski   IMG_1918.JPG   IMG_1868.JPG   IMG_1875.JPG

Semana 64 - BURLONES

This week was full of cancelled appointments and only a few chosen people. For the last 5 or 6 weeks me and my companion have talked with a bunch of people but like 90% of them weren't in their house when they said they would be.  Freaking burlones, but whatever its their choice.  here in tarapoto its always sunny and its SUPER HOT in my room where i study its 37 degrees, but when it rains it cools down to cool 28-30 degrees.  a question that my companion makes to almost everyone we meet that it awesome it that he asks the people why Jesus came to the earth? its true that Jesus came to the earth to save us and give us salvation but he also showed the right wawy to follow him so he can help us reach salvation. thats is though a prophet, 12 apostles, the preisthood and revelation. if we find a church that has these foundations we have found the true church of Christ, i testify that this church is on the earth today and its the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Sain...
