week 8/104
By far the best week of my mission!
On Sunday morning before church I had the opportunity to
baptize my first convert. I can't describe the joy I felt. All I wanted to do was
sing, shout and jump for joy! It was a really amazing experience. D&C 18:15-16
describes the feeling the best:
15 And if it so be that you should labour all your days in
crying repentace unto this people, and bring save it be one soul unto me, how
great shall be your joy with him in the kingdom of my father!
16 And now, if your joy will be great with one soul
that you have brought unto me into the kingdom of my father, how great will be
your joy if you should bring many souls unto me!
Another great experience was that we were teaching this
family and the husband said something in Spanish that I didn't understand, but I felt and saw it in his eyes that he loved the message of Christ we shared with
him and his family.
Other things that happened this week were that the lady that
cooks for me makes this drink that looks and tastes like coffee but isn't coffee. It's made out of wheat or something like that. I think it tastes pretty bad. Also
there is this drink called camucamu which is super good. It's made out of this
cherry type fruit.
We are in the wet season right now so it rained a lot this
week. I feel that I wear my rain boots more than my dress shoes, pero esta
bien (but it's ok). I saw some Amish people last week which is whack as crack. I thought that Amish people were an American thing, but I guess not.
Attached are some pictures of the baptism and my companion.
este es otro dia en el paraiso (This is another day in paradise).
Take care everyone,
Elder Porowski
